Spiritual Healing - A Brief History

The primitive roots of healing are in shamanism and magic. The magical nature of healing has, since medieval times, strained its relationship with organized religion in the West, although not in the East.

Spiritual Healing is completely non-invasive. It is a natural phenomenon, as natural as breathing. It relies upon no religious belief or faith. It is for all. There is no condition, physical or emotional, for which healing may not be attempted. At best it may bring a result, at worst it can do no harm.

Spiritual Healing is the unification of the universal flow of life energy between body, mind and spirit. This ‘Universal Intelligence’ fills everything. It unfolds and builds life in every tiny organism with absolute precision. The secret of healing, therefore, lies in the ability to consciously unite with this Universal Intelligence, to bring the whole person back into balance and harmony.

Human beings are 'in essence' spiritual beings. We live in our inner consciousness, not out in the outer world. The inner life is the originating point of sickness or health. We need to become more aware and sensitive to this. We need to look inside ourselves for the real causes of our sorrows and joys. Discovering the underlying thought that is causing a problem is fundamental to this process. The body of itself has no power to generate illness, illness is merely the shadow thrown by the mind. As thought is healed, the body follows.

A treatment is a definite movement of mind, in a definite direction, to accomplish a definite purpose. It incorporates the expectation of bringing benefit, by the healer placing hands on or near the patient, although what is or is not felt is irrelevant to the healing process. We can build our own faith through experience. We can watch for ourselves the working of Intelligence in the universe, and in our spiritual centre.

Our spiritual centre is always perfect in health and happiness, at perfect peace, entirely in harmony with the universe and everyone in it. It is the spiritual centre from which all healing comes. Let us look inside for the cause.
